Cosey Fanni Tutti is a British experimental rock musician, artist, and visual artist, born on November 4, 1951, in Hull, England. She began her career in the music and art world in 1969 by forming a collaborative group with Genesis P-Orridge, engaging in art performances and musical improvisations in Hull until 1972. In 1973, she moved to London, where she continued her work in performance art, representing Britain at the 9th Paris Biennale in 1975 and at Arte Inglese Oggi in 1976. Cosey has traveled extensively as a performance artist, showcasing her work in Belgium, Germany, Holland, France, Italy, Austria, the USA, and Canada. During this time, she participated in mail art exhibitions and performed globally, often incorporating nudity in her pieces to explore themes of sex as presented in commercial contexts. Her notable 1976 exhibition 'Prostitution' at the ICA in London highlighted her views on societal perceptions of imagery. In 1976, she co-founded the influential group Throbbing Gristle, which operated until 1981. In 1982, Cosey and Chris Carter welcomed their son and began their collaborative partnership as Chris & Cosey and CTI, touring extensively across the UK, Europe, the USA, and Canada, combining music with video projections.
