Cotonete is a French jazz-funk group based in Paris, originally formed in the mid-2000s. The eight-piece band gained recognition for their renditions of tracks from contemporary artists, delivering heavy grooves and sweaty jazz-funk infused with Brazilian warmth. After a hiatus, the group was inspired to reunite by the head of Heartbeat Vinyl, who encouraged them to come back together. Over the past two years, Cotonete has released four EPs of original material, including a collaboration with a renowned disco DJ/producer, which have become collector's items. In 2019, they released their debut album, marking a significant return to the music scene. The members of Cotonete include Frank Chatona (Saxophones), Farid Baha (Guitar), Jean Claude Kebaili (Bass), Benoît Giffard (Trombone), Paul Bouclier (Trumpet, Percussion), Christophe Touzalin (Trumpet), David Georgelet (Drums), and Florian Pellissier (Rhodes, Keyboards).
