Count and the Colony was a garage rock group from Bay City, Michigan, active in the 1960s. The band's lineup featured Butch Burden on lead vocals, with Don Hales on bass and Larry Wheatley on lead guitar in the middle row, while Fred Bingham played drums and Richard "Dick" Brown contributed keyboards and saxophone in the front row. Don Hales joined the band around 1972 and remained until 1984. Prior to his time with Count and the Colony, he was a member of the Revolvers, alongside Stan Burger, Harold Beardsley, and Ted Pearson.
