David's music career took off when he worked on a b-side for British group Damage's cover of "Wonderful Tonight" and later provided vocals for tracks with the garage act Artful Dodger. The hit song "Re-Rewind" from the Artful Dodger album "It's All About the Stragglers" reached Number 2 on the UK charts in 1999, paving the way for his solo career. His debut single, "Fill Me In," released on Wildstar Records, made him the youngest solo male artist to reach Number 1 in the UK at just 18 years old.
