Crosby, Stills & Nash, also known as CSN, is a folk and folk rock supergroup trio formed around July 1968 by three singer-songwriters who had recently left their respective bands. Disappointed with traditional band structures, they chose to perform under their last names, ensuring their independence. Their recordings quickly gained popularity, and they frequently performed as a trio or quartet. They initially disbanded after their summer tour in 1970 but continued to perform in various configurations over the years, alongside their solo careers. Major periods of activity include 1968 to 1969, 1976 to 1992, 1994, and 2012. The death of Crosby in 2023 marked the end of any prospects for further reunions. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 as performers.
