Cuarteto Imperial is a Colombian band founded by Heli Toro Álvarez in 1964, following the Trio Imperial. The first line-up, which lasted until 1969, included Heli Toro Álvarez as the director, pianist, accordionist, requinto player, and vocalist, along with Antonio Muñoz Álvarez on guitar, guacharaca, maracas, and vocals, Juan de Dios Acosta Arias on guitar, bass, and vocals, and lead vocalist Octavio Acosta Arias. In 1969, the Acosta Arias brothers departed, and they were replaced by brothers Alcides and Ancizar Díaz, along with Jorge Caro Fernández. After Alcides and Ancizar Díaz left in 1971, the band continued to evolve.
