Cuba was a duo consisting of former ""-member Christopher Andrews and former ""-drummer Ashley Bates. Based in South London, they drew inspiration from a range of artists, including The Supremes and Tom Waits, and while they enjoyed beats and samples, they identified themselves as a rock band. Andrews, who grew up in Canada, has a mother from Cuba, which inspired the group's name. In the United States, they were known as "Air Cuba."
