Curiosity Killed The Cat is a British pop band that formed in 1984, consisting of Ben Volpeliere-Pierrot (vocals), Julian Godfrey Brookhouse (guitar), Nicholas Bernard Thorp (bass), and Michael Drummond (drums). Toby Anderson served as the keyboardist and contributed to songwriting for their first No. 1 album, 'Keep Your Distance.' The band recorded a track titled "Curiosity Killed the Cat," which attracted the attention of businessman Peter Rosengard, who became their manager and renamed the band after the song. In 1985, they signed with Phonogram and began working on their debut LP. However, the initial producers were replaced, causing a delay in the album's release. Their first single, "Misfit," was released in July 1986 but did not achieve success that year. In early 1987, "Down to Earth" became a Top Ten hit in the U.K. By 1989, the group shortened their name to Curiosity. Thorp left the band around 1991 due to family commitments, and the remaining members signed with BMG Records, producing several singles and the album 'Back to Front,' which was released only in Europe and Japan.
