Curve is a seminal indie rock/electronic crossover group formed in 1991 by members Dean Garcia and Toni Halliday. The two originally met through David Stewart, a connection Toni had since her teenage years. Dean played on two Eurythmics albums and the duo had previously collaborated in an unsuccessful 80s band before parting on acrimonious terms. After resolving their differences, they established Curve, which initially found success in the UK indie scene. Despite critical acclaim, the group struggled to achieve broader recognition, and low sales of their second album, "Cuckoo," led to a four-year split during which Toni and Dean worked with other artists. They reformed in 1996 and released "Come Clean" the following year, with singles from this album gaining more attention in the US than their earlier work. However, the group's momentum faltered due to label difficulties, and subsequent releases did not attract significant interest beyond their core fanbase. After a two-disc retrospective in 2004, Toni announced the group's end on January 31, 2005, stating that they had "come to its natural end with a lot of good work achieved in the last 15 years."
