Cyril Neville, born on January 10, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana, is the youngest of the four Neville Brothers. He developed a passion for music early on, influenced by his parents and older brothers. Cyril began his professional singing career in 1967 at the age of 19 when he joined his brothers Art and Aaron in the group Art Neville And The Neville Sounds, performing regularly on the New Orleans club circuit. After some time, Cyril and Aaron left to form the group Soul Machine. In 1970, he released his debut solo single, "Gossip" b/w "Tell Me What's On Your Mind," with backing from Art's new band. Soul Machine later relocated to Nashville and then New York City, but the moves did not lead to success. During this period, the Meters were looking to expand their lineup and invited Cyril to join as a vocalist and conga player. He contributed to albums such as 1972's "Cabbage Alley" and 1975's "Fire on the Bayou," and the Meters opened for a sold-out U.S. tour in 1974. When the Meters disbanded in 1976, Cyril became interested in reggae music, inspired by Bob Marley’s landmark album "Natty Dread." The four Neville siblings then formed the Neville Brothers, releasing numerous recordings together. In addition to his work with the Neville Brothers, Cyril has formed other bands, including the Endangered Species
