Cyrnai, born Carolyn Fok in Los Angeles, is a painter, writer, and electronic musician. She self-produced several cassettes before releasing her debut album, Charred Blossoms, in 1985. After a decade, she followed up with the ambitious multimedia project Transfiguation in 1996, and later released The Listener in 2000, which, while less ambitious, is considered more accomplished.
