Robin Koek (Netherlands, 1987) is a composer, musician, and designer of artistic systems. His work explores the interplay of acoustic, digital, and analog signals, merging them into a cohesive sound experience. Koek's compositions are rooted in research on acoustic ontology, urban transcription, and the spatial potential of sound. His tape, live, and installation works aim to immerse audiences and create new realities through multi-channel projection, binaural experiences, and wavefield synthesis. Currently, he is focused on a series of sound structures and systems that draw from city soundscape phonology, electronic processing, and scores for instrumental improvisation. His pieces have been performed in various locations, including Toronto, Viseu, New York, Ohio, Berlin, and Amsterdam. As a performing musician, Koek comes from a tradition of improvisation and has performed at notable venues such as Bimhuis, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, and the TodaysArt festival. He is also an active member of the Soundlings collective, which consists of international sound professionals. Koek earned a Bachelor with Honours and a Master of Arts in Sound Design from the Utrecht School of the Arts, Faculty of Music Technology, in 2011.
