Daddy Freddy, born Samuel Frederick Small in 1965 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a pioneering artist in the fusion of dancehall reggae and hip hop. After marrying Nicole Nelson, he adopted her surname. In 1987, he collaborated with Asher D and producer Simon Harris to create the influential album "Ragamuffin Hip Hop," which garnered success in the UK, USA, and Europe, sparking a renewed interest in blending reggae with contemporary dancefloor styles. Freddy further advanced this innovative approach by producing "Ragga House" with Simon Harris, which narrowly missed the UK pop Top 40 charts. Freddy is known for his dynamic live performances, notably at the New Music Seminar in New York and Tim Westwood's live rap shows on Capital Radio. In 1989, he earned a spot in the Guinness Book of Records as the World's fastest rapper, later surpassing his own record with a rap of 507 syllables per minute on BBC's 'Record Breakers,' where he appeared alongside Roy Castle. He has also made appearances on CNN and BBC's children's show Blue Peter, among others.
