**Bio: Damarge** Damarge was a musical unit active from late 1981 to 1984, based in Southend-on-Sea, England. The band consisted of Bill 'Kirt Tempest' Bailey on keys, tapes, and electronic beats; Iain 'Oaf' Weir on bass; Cliff Gee as the vocalist; and Mark 'Snowboy' Cotgrove on percussion, who joined in early 1983 after meeting Kirt at Honky Tonk music store in Hadleigh. The original trio formed while attending Westcliff High School and began practicing in Oaf's bedroom with minimal equipment. Their first song, "20,000 Souls," was a chant about West Ham United's Upton Park. Damarge's output can be divided into three distinct phases. During the **Early Period** (1981 to early 1982), the band explored and experimented with sound, writing songs like "In Remembrance of M.P." and "Jazz-Funk," but performed only one gig at Zero 6, with no polished recordings made. The **Mid Period** (1982 to early 1984) was the band's most productive phase, marked by Snowboy's addition. They wrote "Bodyrock" and participated in The Cliffs Pavilion band contest, utilizing more sophisticated equipment like the E-mu Drumulator.
