Damien Jurado is an American indie/folk singer/songwriter and guitarist whose solo career began in the mid-1990s with lo-fi folk recordings released on his own cassette-only label. He gained a local cult following in Seattle, which led to his discovery by Sub Pop Records, thanks to Sunny Day Real Estate's singer. Throughout his musical career, Jurado has collaborated closely with various musicians. His early work was linked to specific collaborators until the release of "I Break Chairs." Following that, he partnered with a musician and producer, forming the band "Damien Jurado," which included contributions from Fisher on albums like "Now That I'm In Your Shadow" and "Caught In The Trees." A significant shift in his sound occurred when he met the late collaborator, with whom he worked from "St. Bartlett" to "Visions Of Us On The Land." From "The Horizon Just Laughed" to "Sometimes You Hurt The Ones You Hate," he found a new musical partner. Since "Motorcycle Madness," Jurado's work has been associated with a musician/producer and a changing lineup of musicians, including notable contributions from Walcott's circle. In 2024, this led to the formation of a short-lived backing band.
