Daniel Haaksman is a Berlin-based DJ, producer, and label boss known for his significant contributions to global musical exchange. He gained prominence with his 2004 compilation "Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats," which introduced the sounds of Rio's favelas to an international audience and coined the term "Baile Funk." In 2005, he founded Man Recordings, a label that has become a leading force in tropical bass music, releasing numerous records from artists like Diplo, Schlachthofbronx, and Brazilian talents such as Deize Tigrona and Edu K. Daniel's discography includes four albums: "Rambazamba" (2010), "African Fabrics" (2016), "With Love, From Berlin" (2019), and "Sonido Lava" (2023), alongside various compilations and official remixes for notable artists. As a DJ, Daniel has performed worldwide at renowned clubs and festivals, delivering an energetic mix of baile funk, house, trap, and more. He hosted the weekly radio mix show "Luso FM" on WDR Funkhaus Europa from 2013 to 2016 and also writes as a freelance music journalist for various German-language publications.
