Daniel Lopatin (b. 1982) is an experimental musician, composer, and producer from the USA, born to Soviet immigrant parents. He is best known for his project, which has been active since 2007, and is recognized as a key figure in the development of the vaporwave genre and scene, particularly after releasing an influential work in 2010 under a different moniker. Lopatin operates a record label that is a subsidiary of Mexican Summer and previously managed another label. He has collaborated with various artists, including Joel Ford of Tigercity, with whom he released albums and EPs under different aliases, as well as with notable musicians such as an ex-member of Emeralds. In 2013, he co-wrote the score for the movie The Bling Ring with Brian Reitzell.
