Daniel Schmidt (b. 1942) is an American composer and builder of American gamelan. He earned his BA in music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, and his MFA in composition and Javanese Music from the California Institute of the Arts. Currently, he teaches gamelan and instrument building at Mills College in Oakland, CA.
