Darker My Love is an L.A.-based psych-rock quartet formed in 2001 by high school friends Tim Presley (guitars, vocals) and Andy Granelli (drums). Initially a side project, the band expanded when they teamed up with bassist/vocalist Rob Barbato and guitarist Jared Everett, both from Boston. Their unique bright-but-brooding sound quickly gained attention through a series of impressive live performances. After opening for bands like the Kills, the Warlocks, and Icarus Line, they released a three-song EP in early 2006, which garnered early praise for Presley's melancholic vocals reminiscent of Robert Smith. Later that year, they released their self-titled debut album on Dangerbird Records, filled with fuzz and trippy distortion. In 2008, they followed up with their second album, 2, exploring darker and fuzzier musical territories. During the tour for 2, Granelli left the band to focus on his family and was replaced by Dan Allaire from the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Their third album, Alive as You Are, was released in 2010.
