Das EFX is a hip-hop duo consisting of members who go by the stage names of and . One member was born on November 2, 1970, in Teaneck, New Jersey, while the other was born on November 27, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York. The duo met while attending Virginia State University and formed their group during their college years. Their breakthrough came after they placed second in a talent show judged by a notable figure in the music industry, who later signed them to a collective. Das EFX gained recognition in the early 1990s with their debut album, Dead Serious, released in 1992, which showcased a distinctive lyrical style featuring rapid delivery and playful word formations like "diggety." The album achieved commercial success, going platinum. They followed up with two more albums, Straight Up Sewaside in 1993 and Hold It Down in 1995. Although they were initially influential, the widespread imitation of their style by other artists eventually diluted their impact in the mainstream.
