Das EFX is a hip-hop duo comprised of members known as (born November 2, 1970, in Teaneck, New Jersey) and (born November 27, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York). The duo formed while attending Virginia State University. Their breakthrough came after they placed second in a talent show judged by a member of a prominent collective, leading to their signing. Das EFX gained recognition in the early 1990s with their debut album, Dead Serious (1992), which showcased a unique lyrical style marked by rapid delivery and playful word formations like "diggety." The album achieved commercial success, going platinum. They followed up with two more albums, Straight Up Sewaside (1993) and Hold It Down (1995). Although they were initially influential, the widespread imitation of their style by other artists eventually diminished their impact in the mainstream.
