Dave C & The Sharptones were a musical group based in Cleveland, Ohio, active from 1959 to the late 1990s. The lead singer, Dave Cox, an African-American artist, was supported by the predominantly white rock-n-roll band known as the Sharptones. Cox's career began in the early days of Cleveland rock and he remained a popular performer in local nightclubs throughout the 1960s. The group released three 45s on labels such as Golden Leaf, Dollee, and Whirl. The lineup of the Sharptones changed frequently, featuring many seasoned musicians from the Cleveland music scene. Dave Cox continued to perform into the 1990s with a new backing band called the New Sharptones.
