Dave Pell was an American jazz saxophonist, photographer, and bandleader, born on February 26, 1925, in New York City, New York, USA. He passed away on May 8, 2017. Pell was active as a producer during the 1950s and 1960s. In 1961, he switched to playing alto sax and clarinet to collaborate with other musicians. In the 1980s, he worked with a notable artist, heading their label, which featured some popular country artists of the time. He collaborated with another West Coast jazz veteran and managed the soundtrack recordings for several films, including "Sudden Impact" and "Sharkey's Machine." In the late 1970s, he formed the group "Prez Conference." Pell was also credited with photography on jazz releases, with several of his works used as album covers.
