Dave Plaehn is a musician originally from Iowa, where he was influenced by his parents, both of whom were singers. During high school, he played in a band covering iconic artists like The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and Bob Dylan. In college, he was part of a jug band, honing his skills in singing and harmonica. After college, Dave moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he collaborated with several musicians, including Jim Cowan, to form a band. In the late 1970s, he shifted his focus to songwriting, releasing his first album in 1980, which featured all original songs. This was followed by a blues/folk/jazz EP. In the mid-1980s, Dave relocated to Oregon and joined Neal Gladstone & Company. By 1990, he began performing as a duo with slide guitarist, and together they released a mostly acoustic blues CD in 1996. They continued their collaboration with the album "Can't Get My Rest" in 2002, which featured a blend of acoustic and electric blues. They perform as the Plaehn-Hino Blues Band. In 1997, Dave received endorsement as a harmonica player from Hohner, Inc., and that year, he also performed with the OSU-Corvallis Symphony. His later releases include albums from 2008, 2013, and 2014. Dave continues to create and release music today.
