Dean Reed was a multifaceted individual known for his work as a singer, actor, screenwriter, and film director. He was also a Marxist and anti-imperialist political activist who lived in Chile, the USSR, and the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Born on September 22, 1938, in Denver, Colorado, USA, Reed's life came to a tragic end on June 13, 1986, in Zeuthen/Berlin, GDR, where he died by suicide.
