Death In June is a music project that originated in June 1980 from the remnants of a classic '77 British punk band. The initial lineup included a guitar player, a bassist, and a drummer. Since 1985, Douglas P. (Douglas Pearce) has been the sole member of Death In June, serving as guitarist, vocalist, percussionist, and keyboardist. The band's musical style began in the post-punk era and later evolved into a blend of acoustic ballads and synth-wave music. Death In June is often recognized as a pioneer of the "apocalyptic folk" or "neofolk" genre. The current lineup features Douglas P. (1981-present). Former members include Tony Wakeford (vocals, bass, 1981-1984), Patrick Leagas (vocals, drums, drum machine, keyboards, trumpet, 1981-1985), Richard Butler (keyboards, 1983-1984), and David Tibet (1984-1985). Former live member John Murphy contributed percussion.
