Dee Dee Bridgewater is a renowned American soul, disco, and jazz singer born on May 27, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee. She grew up in Flint, Michigan, and married a trumpeter in 1970, which led her to move to New York City. Between 1976 and 1980, she released several high-quality disco soul albums, collaborating with top session musicians. Throughout her career, she has worked with many leading jazz musicians and appeared in the musical "The Wiz" as Glinda the Good Witch. In 1986, she moved to Paris, where she continued to act and record.
