Deep Forest is a French music group originally formed by Eric Mouquet and Michel Sanchez. They are known for popularizing "Global Pop," a genre that blends ambient music with ethnic sounds. Their hit song "Sweet Lullaby" contributed to the group's success, leading to over 2 million album sales in the US. In 2005, Michel Sanchez departed from the band to pursue a solo career. The collaboration between Sanchez and Mouquet ended after their 2004 soundtrack for the Japanese film Kusa No Ran. In 2008, Eric Mouquet released a solo album titled 'Deep' under the name Deep Projects. He continued to release additional world fusion albums in 2013, named Deep India and Deep Africa, under the moniker 'Deep Forest Eric Mouquet.'
