Del Shannon, born on December 30, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was a prominent Rock & Roll musician, singer, and songwriter. He gained fame in 1961 with his hit "Runaway," co-written with keyboard player Max Crook. The song is legendary for its distinctive sound, featuring Shannon's voice paired with Crook's invention, the "Musitron," an electric keyboard that pre-dated the Moog synthesizer. Shannon became a well-known singer, guitarist, and songwriter during the 1960s. In the 1980s, he shifted his focus to Country & Western music. He passed away on February 8, 1990, in his home in Santa Clarita, California. Del Shannon was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
