Denise Stewart is a talented soul singer and songwriter who began her musical journey at the age of six when she stood in for her mother at a church function. Her musical background was shaped by her experiences in the Chorale of a small Methodist church in Chicago, Illinois. Influenced by her father, she was introduced to the music of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Billie Holiday, sparking her passion for singing. Denise's career took off when producer Pete Moore, formerly of the Miracles, signed her to her first recording contract with Satellite Records, leading to the disco hit "Victim." She collaborated with various artists and began touring with Norman Connors as a featured vocalist, performing at renowned venues such as the Wiltern Theatre and Hammersmith Odeon alongside notable musicians like Ronnie Laws and Jean Carne. Throughout her career, Denise has contributed to numerous albums for various artists, including Marion Meadows, Mark Winkler, and Craig T. Cooper. She also portrayed Billie Holiday in the play “THE QUEEN & FRIENDS” at the Stella Adler Theatre and THE CINEGRILL in Hollywood, earning acclaim for her performances. One of her proudest moments came in January 2009, when she had the honor of performing at the LINKS BALL in Washington D.C. with ACC’s Jazz Band, under the direction of Dr. Thom Husak. Denise Stewart's extensive list of studio credits and collaborations reflects her significant contributions to the music industry.
