Dennis Cooper (born 1953) is a poet, writer, and performance artist known for translating the visual and verbal aesthetics of punk into literature. He is the author of the George Miles cycle, which includes the works Closer (1989), Frisk (1991), Try (1994), Guide (1997), and Period (2000), as well as The Sluts and God Jr.
