**Bio: Descendents** Descendents were formed in 1977 as an acoustic duo, initially consisting of two members. They soon added a drummer, and by the end of that year, one member transitioned to bass for another group, leading to a replacement. Their first release as a trio was a 7" single in the style of melodic garage pop. After a brief period with a female singer, Cecilia Loera, they enlisted a new singer in late 1980, marking their re-emergence as a punk band and becoming a significant player in the Los Angeles hardcore scene. Their debut album, released in 1982, introduced a blend of melody and sensitivity that distinguished them from other hardcore bands, with themes of love, loss, and alienation. Following the album's release, one member pursued a doctorate in biochemistry, prompting the band to recruit a new vocalist while another member became the drummer for Black Flag. This led to sporadic gigs, and the band would not record again until 1985, when they released an album that featured both sensitive and humorous songs. The lineup changed around the time of "I Don't Want to Grow Up," with one member leaving to pursue fishing and another departing due to career conflicts. This led to the introduction of new members, solidifying a permanent lineup.
