The Detroit Emeralds were an American soul group originally formed as "The Emeralds" in Little Rock, Arkansas, in the 1960s by the Tilmon brothers: Abrim, Ivory, Cleophus, and Raymond. In the late 1960s, Abrim and Ivory Tilmon relocated to Detroit and reformed the group as the "Detroit Emeralds." They signed with a record label in 1970, and between 1971 and 1973, their backing band was active. The group is best known for songs such as "Feel The Need In Me," "Do Me Right," "You Want It, You Got It," and "Baby Let Me Take You (In My Arms)." However, by the mid-1970s, the group began to disband, and in 1977, new permanent members were hired. By the late 1970s, two parallel groups were performing live as the (Detroit) Emeralds. Former members later formed a disco-soul group.
