Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, frequently known as D.A.F. or DAF, was a German electro-punk and Neue Deutsche Welle project formed in 1978 in Düsseldorf, West Germany. The original lineup consisted of Gabriel "Gabi" Delgado-López (vocals), Robert Görl (drums, percussion, electronic instruments), Kurt "Pyrolator" Dahlke (electronic instruments), Michael Kemner (bass-guitar), and Wolfgang Spelmans (guitar). In 1979, Chrislo Haas replaced Kurt Dahlke, contributing electronic instruments, bass-guitar, and saxophone. The group initially disbanded in 1982 but reformed in 1985, remaining occasionally inactive until their final disbandment following the death of Delgado-López from a heart attack in March 2020. The duo had intended to release a new DAF album in 2020; however, after unexpected developments, Görl compiled old material from the band's 1980s work and wrote new lyrics, resulting in the release of "Nur Noch Einer," which translates to "just one more" or "one last album," as well as "down to one."
