Diane Dufresne is a Canadian singer, actress, and painter born on September 30, 1944, in Montréal, Québec. Known for her eccentric costumes, she is regarded as one of the greatest singers in Québec. After leaving school at the age of 15 due to her mother's death, she performed texts by Aragon, Ferré, and Brel on stage in Montréal at 18, just before moving to France. In Paris, she studied singing and theater, and from 1966 to 1968, she was engaged in the cabarets of the Left Bank, where she sang works by Vigneault, Ferland, and Léveillée, as well as participating in revues, film soundtracks, and radio. Her career gained significant momentum in the fall of 1972 with the release of her debut album, "Tiens-Toé Ben, J'Arrive!" In 1973, she received widespread recognition, captivating audiences in other French-speaking countries. In 2023, she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
