Dick Shory was a classically trained percussionist known for his versatility across various music genres, including symphony, experimental music, and popular recordings. He played in the percussion section of the Chicago Symphony and served as the educational and advertising director for the Ludwig Drum Company. Schory founded the New Percussion Ensemble and actively commissioned contemporary composers to create new works for the group. Additionally, he wrote and recorded musical backgrounds for radio and television commercials.
