Die Krupps is a German post-punk, industrial, EBM, and metal band formed in Düsseldorf in October 1980 by Jürgen Engler and Bernward Malaka, who previously played together in Germany's alleged first punk band, Male. Over the years, Die Krupps' sound has evolved significantly, transitioning through noise, EBM, and industrial music, and eventually incorporating a metal sound in the mid-1990s, influenced by Metallica. The band even recorded covers of Metallica songs. After a hiatus from 1997 to 2005, Die Krupps resumed their activities in the studio and on stages worldwide. The current key personnel includes Jürgen Engler, Ralf Dörper, and Marcel Zürcher. Throughout their history, various members have contributed to the band, including Bernward Malaka, Frank Köllges, Eva-Maria Gößling, Ralf Albertini, Christina Schnekenburger, Christopher Lietz, Walter Jäger, Rüdiger Esch, Volker Borchert, Lee Altus, Darren Minter, George Lewis, Oliver Röhl, Achim Färber, Christoph "Nook" Michelfeit, Nils Finkeisen, Hendrik Thiesbrummel, and Paul Keller.
