Different Shades Of Brown was a soul band based in Springfield, Ohio, active from 1968 to 1975. The group featured members Little Nate, Steve Warfield, and Nate Newsome. They were discovered by a producer in 1971, which led to a recording contract that resulted in two 45 singles and sessions for an album that was never released. After their contract ended, McMurray continued to record with the group until they disbanded in 1975.
