Differnet is a Swedish trio formed in the early 2000s, initially consisting of Tomas Bodén, the mastermind and arranger who primarily plays keyboards, and Peter Jackson, who plays guitar, flute, and provides vocals. The band explores the intersection of low-key indie rock and electronic music, drawing inspiration from labels like Warp Records. Instead of pursuing a traditional record label, Differnet began by self-releasing CD-Rs and MP3s on their website, www.differnet.tk. Their recorded journey commenced with the release of "Kabelsalat" in 2001, followed by "We Are Difference, How Are You?", which featured edited improvisations and contributions from Niclas Wiklund on santoor. In the summer of 2002, they released "Style Telegraphique," and later that year, the key EP "Affections," primarily a solo project by Bodén that included vocals from Anna-Karin Brus, who later became the third permanent member of the band. The first full album featuring all three members, "In Advance of the Broken Sound," was released the following year. Differnet gained wider recognition after appearing on the "Friendly People Making Noise" compilation from the Swedish label Friendly Noise, which led to their first full album for the label, "Come on and Bring Back the Brjokén Sounds of Yore," released in late 2003. This compilation showcased their self-released works from the previous two years and marked the trio's first significant exposure
