Dinah Washington was an American blues, R&B, and jazz singer born on August 29, 1924, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She passed away on December 14, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, from a lethal dose of secobarbital and amobarbital. Throughout her life, she was married at least seven times, including a marriage from 1957 to 1959. Washington was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 as an Early Influence and into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2003.
