Dirk Serries is a Belgian musician who began his career in the early 1980s within the DIY industrial-tape music scene. Initially known for harsh industrial sounds, his work evolved into ambient music and tribal influences reminiscent of primitive music. In 2005, he concluded the Vidna Obmana project and shifted his focus to guitar drones, releasing twelve albums under a new name. During this period, he also explored ambient guitar music through his Microphonics project. The Fear Falls Burning project ended in 2012, while he continued to keep the Microphonics project active. Although Serries has long had a personal interest in jazz, it is only in recent years that he has ventured into free jazz, free improvisation, and avant-garde jazz, leading to various projects in improvisation and avant-garde music, along with his own label.
