DJ Minx, known as the First Lady of Wax, is a pioneering figure in house and techno music from Detroit. Since the early 1990s, she has played a significant role in shaping the city's underground scene through her collective and label, as well as her legendary club residencies. She has maintained an unbroken performance record at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival / Movement since its inception. Her 2003 track "A Walk in the Park" is recognized as a minimal house classic and was later reissued on Richie Hawtin’s M_nus label. Honored by Mixmag as one of the women who shaped dance music history, she received the Spirit of Detroit Award and has expanded her global presence with releases on Planet E, HE.SHE.THEY., and Rules Don’t Apply. In 2025, DJ Minx continues to be a proud advocate for Black queer voices, a powerful performer, and a cultural ambassador, ensuring that Detroit's spirit thrives on dancefloors around the world.
