DJ Platurn, the son of an Icelandic radio DJ, relocated to California with his family at the age of seven. He immersed himself in the Bay Area Hip-Hop and DJ scene, eventually becoming a member of the Oakland Faders crew. This crew gained recognition by winning Toyota's "Scion Mixtape Competition" in 2004.
