DJ Rolando, originally from southwest Detroit, grew up in a Hispanic district where he was deeply influenced by Latin rhythms and percussion. His musical journey began at an early age, inspired by his musician father, and he gained respect within his community. In 1985, he discovered the innovative sounds of Techno through Jeff Mills, known as "The Wizard." Rolando joined Underground Resistance in 1994 after being introduced to Mike Banks through a mutual friend. In 1999, he released 'Knights of The Jaguar,' which, while not his first release on UR, significantly impacted the perception of Techno, transcending into other dance music genres and becoming a classic among DJs like Tenaglia, Morillo, Oakenfold, and Gilles Peterson. The track has a long-lasting legacy, inspiring audiences across various genres even fifteen years later. By November 2004, Rolando left Underground Resistance and his Los Hermanos project. In 2014, he launched his own label, R3 (Roland Rocha Records), to exclusively release his music. With nearly thirty years of experience as a DJ, Rolando continues to perform internationally and holds a residency at the renowned Berlin club, Berghain.
