Djur Djura is the stage name of Djouhra Abouda, originally part of a music band founded in 1979 by three sisters from Kabylie, Algeria: Djouhra, Fatima, and Malha. Djouhra was the main vocalist and songwriter, known for her unique style that blended traditional Kabyle folk melodies with poetry addressing the struggles of women in oppressive societies. In 1986, she adopted the name Djur Djura as she embarked on a solo career following family disputes. Later, her sisters Malha and Fatima formed a trio with their other sister Hafida.
