DMG, whose real name is DetriMental Ganxta, began his journey in the underground hip-hop scene of St. Paul, Minnesota, in the early 1990s. His big break came after a rap concert when he impressed the renowned rapper Scarface by playing one of his tapes in a hotel room. This led to a deal that resulted in the release of his underground classic in 1993. DMG later joined Scarface's spin-off project, a hip-hop collective featuring artists from various regions. He continued to collaborate on hip-hop projects for Rap-A-Lot throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, including his second solo album, "Black Roulette," released in 2003. Known for his overtly violent lyrics, DMG has drawn comparisons to Scarface in both sound and flow, earning recognition from hip-hop critics.
