Dojo Cuts is a six-piece band formed in late 2008, quickly establishing themselves as Australia's hottest heavy funk unit. Their sound blends crisp, tight instrumentals with powerful and gritty vocals from Roxie Ray. Drawing inspiration from the 60s and 70s, along with modern funk elements, Dojo Cuts delivers timeless, feel-good music. They follow in the footsteps of other notable Aussie funk groups like Cookin’ On 3 Burners, The Bamboos, Deep Street Soul, and Kylie Auldist, and are making waves both in the Southern hemisphere and beyond. With a rhythm section that provides heavy breaks and a harmonious horn section, the band captivates audiences with their explosive live performances. Their self-titled debut album features nine tracks, including covers of Stevie Wonder’s “Uptight” and Marie ‘Queenie’ Lyons’ “See and Don’t See,” as well as original songs like “Say What You Mean,” “Something Going On,” and the hit single “The 1-2-3’s,” which gained significant airplay globally. Renowned NYC producer Gabriel Roth and Neal Sugarman, both associated with Daptone Records, have expressed their admiration for the band, with Roth even contributing liner notes for their debut album. Roxie Ray has collaborated with various artists, including Milano Jazz-Dance Combo, Lack Of Afro, and Ray Lugo's L.E.S Express, and is also featured on The Underbelly's debut album. Additionally,
