Dolly Parton is an American country singer, songwriter, and actress born on January 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge, Tennessee, USA. She made her first solo record, a Rockabilly song, in 1959 at the age of 13. In 1962, she released a Soul Pop single titled "The Love You Gave." By 1964, she began singing for a different label, where she first released the Pop single "What Do You Think About Lovin'" and followed it with the Blue-Eyed Soul single "Happy, Happy Birthday Baby," which charted in 1965. She continued with several more Blue-Eyed Soul singles, including "Busy Signal" and "Don't Drop Out." In 1966, she scored a No. 1 hit with a song on the same label. After being compelled to sing Soul and Pop, she transitioned to country music, achieving her first top 100 hits with "Dumb Blonde" and "Something Fishy." In 1967, she replaced a country singer on a show as the "girl singer." The following year, she switched to another label and scored her first No. 1 hit, "Joshua." Dolly Parton continued to release singles until 1987 when she began working with yet another label.
