Don Drummond & The Skatalites were a prominent studio band in Jamaica, formed after the split of the original members due to a tragic incident involving Don Drummond in 1965. Following this event, saxophonist Tommy McCook left Studio One to join another label, bringing together old partners and new musicians to form The Supersonics. The band became one of Jamaica's most productive studio backing bands, with releases credited to them or to other projects. Tommy McCook led the group until they disbanded during a trip to Montreal, Canada, in 1969.
