Don Slepian is a Neoclassical Electronic Keyboard Concert Soloist known for his unique blend of music and electronics, along with a lifetime of improvised keyboard performances. He specializes in Renaissance, Baroque, and Romantic genres, creating original classically-styled music using computer instruments of his own design. Slepian's musical journey began in a scientific family where he showcased his musical and technical talents early on. In 1968, he programmed computers and built electronic music circuitry, employing classic electronic music studio tape techniques to sculpt sound. From 1972, he contributed to the early internet as a tester for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He has performed as a Synthesizer Soloist with the Honolulu Symphony and served as Music Director for the Honolulu Theater For Youth, as well as an ARP Synthesizer Sales Representative for Hawaii. A pioneer in electronic music, Slepian has been featured on WNYC's “New Sounds” show at New York's Lincoln Center and was invited by the French Ministry of Culture for a residency at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. He has also performed in refugee camps at the border of Burma and Thailand. Currently, he webcasts from his studio in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and serves as President of Local 577 of the American Federation of Musicians and Music Minister at All Souls Christian Center in East Stroudsburg, PA. He is married.
